Anthropology Major & Study Abroad Student
Anthropology:
Growing up I wanted to understand the way people think, the way they live, and the way they develop.
I wanted to understand what interconnects us all. And what seperates us.
I love Anthropology because it focuses on groups from primary perspectives instead of showing potential bias. I took foreign literature to meet my prequesite in order to become a double major in Anthropology & French. This course will also help my admission into Aix Marseille Universite. CSUIP offers a study abroad program for California State University Students in both English speaking and non English speaking countries.
Country Of Choice & Discovering My Creole Roots
I selected France as my country of choice because I want to study at Aix Marseille University for the next academic year.
Here's some of my reasons for picking France:
-
As a Creole-Black American, I want to be able to study my people and my roots. Creole was my family’s first language in Louisiana. Louisiana Creole aka ‘Kouri Vini’ is an endangered language that derives from France. The opportunity of learning of my roots is a privilege not many African Americans have due to our painful history. However, I have the unique circumstance of embracing what it means to be Creole the way an Afro-Latino can embrace what it means it be Latino.
.
- My goal is to declare a double major in Modern Cultures & Languages: French. I haven't been delcared for the major yet but this program will help me get approved. My current major is Anthropology.
- I selected. ‘Aix-Marselle Université’ because of their commitment of accessibility for the differently abled community, their fascinating courses, and the charming atmosphere the two-thousand-year-old town that surrounds it holds. It would be an honor to study in a region once called ‘Provencia’ and a city called, ‘Aquae Sextiae’ by the Romans. The classes at AMU reflect a longstanding connection among the land and the people who lived in times that hold a bit of mystery. Among the colleges I’m affiliated with, neither have had a broad range of history courses on topics like the country of Martinique, the formation of EU, politics in the francophone world; nor inclusivity for marginalized communities.
-
I have created a five-ten-year plan in hopes of mastering the French language and making my career goals possible. I was originally a Double Major in Anthropology and English. I want to switch English for Modern Cultures & Languages. However, most of the classes that I need to add Modern Cultures & Languages as a double major are overseas. The department at CSUN no longer offers all of the courses required to complete the major. I also plan on gathering more inspiration for the novel series I’m working on and research international publishing companies in the meantime. After my graduation from CSUN, I’m going to apply for an internship that revolves around (international relations, museums, historical preservation, publishing industries.) Most Likely the internship would be in France or Spain because Spain needs more French speakers. After my internship, I want my master’s in international relations and French. Possibly a minor in Spanish because my humanitarian ideas only start in the francophone world. Some international universities I have on my list for my Master’s Degree are , University Of Bordeaux, Panthéon Sorbonne University, The American University Of Paris, University of Granada and University of Barcelona. Eventually, I’ll finish with a doctorate in Anthropolopy. My overall goal outside of being an author is to become an Ambassador at Large aka Global Ambassador. I want to spend a few years working in different departments so I can truly understand what differently abled people need to have a better chance at earnring a degree. As a writer, I’m aware of the approval process of having a book published so my other projects will sustain me in the meantime.
